The Kingdom Spain is a country in the South-West of Europe with 45.116.894 (2007) residents.

Spain is a constitutional monarchy and has a surface of 505.992 km2.
The country occupies about 80% of the Iberian Peninsula.
Besides that, Spanish territory also includes the Balearic islands in the Mediterranean sea, the Canary islands in the Atlantic ocean and 2 autonomous cities Ceuta and Melilla in the north of Africa.
In the northeast Spain borders with France and Andorra, in the West with Portugal and in the south with Gibraltar.
The capital of Spain is Madrid, a city with more than 3 million inhabitants in the middle of the country.
Spain is a divers country with lots of cultures, languages, eating habits and climates. The country varies from rainy fish villages in Galicia until the night life of Madrid, the tourist coasts at the Mediterranean sea, the Flamenco dances in Andalusia,
and bull fighting in several parts of the country and the modern Barcelona in Catalonia.
Spain became a member of the NAVO in 1981 and is member of the European Union since 1986.
The Euro became the Spanish coin on January the first of 1999 and thereby replaced the peseta.
January the first of 2002, Euro coins and notes were introduced.
